Daemon was appointed as technical consultant to DVLA to assist with technical development and QA work on their emerging network systems, working in conjunction with their IT supplier EDS. This work involved integrating their existing IBM's based SNA strategy and systems with the newer LAN based technology. The new system included Microsoft Office, Groupwise email, IBM's PROFFS and Lotus Notes.
In 1997 Daemon prepared a study on Network Security for DVLA. Daemon consultants identified a number of security issues associated with the proposed development of a new network, and suggested some design principles and options for minimising their impact.
